Nature Hates a Tosser
The Nature Hates a Tosser litter prevention campaign
Nature Hates a Tosser builds on the previous Tosser campaigns (Hey Tosser and Don’t be a tosser!) and highlights how small amounts of rubbish can have a big impact on wildlife and waterways.
The campaign targets people who litter on a daily or weekly basis, and who think “it’s just one piece of litter, it’s harmless.” To challenge that thinking, this bold new campaign has been launched based on nature speaking up. It features a magpie and a green sea turtle reminding us that litter has real consequences.
The Nature Hates a Tosser website also features information on:
- the litter journey and how rubbish often ends up in our waterways
- how long litter takes to break down in the environment
- the environmental impact on some of our most valued species, such as the turtle and our unique seabirds
- what the NSW Government is doing to reduce litter.
Report a Tosser campaign
Report a Tosser! is part of the Nature Hates a Tosser campaign and raises awareness that anyone can report littering from vehicles. It’s also used as part of an enforcement campaign to make tossers aware that they can be seen and fined.
Marine litter campaign
The Nature Hates a Tosser campaign also aims to reduce litter in our waterways. Supported by funding under the Marine Estate Management Strategy, the Marine Litter campaign is a series of educational events highlighting the devastating impact that litter has on our oceans and waterways, and how it can affect us.
