Nambucca Valley waterways monitoring

In March 2024, the EPA partnered with Nambucca Valley Council to monitor 9 local waterways for pesticides as part of a pesticide compliance campaign in the area.

This monitoring detected 3 different pesticides at low levels in 3 creeks. The levels detected were below National Water Quality Guidelines. These results indicated that water quality was not being impacted by excessive amounts of pesticides, although improvements at some local farms were recommended.

Since July 2025, the EPA has been monitoring select waterways in Nambucca Valley as part of the Coffs Harbour and Nambucca Valley Pesticide Water Monitoring Project. This project was designed to inform our pesticide compliance work and support our ongoing collaboration with farmers, local council and the community to promote responsible pesticide use and improved environmental outcomes.
