Mid North Coast Flood Debris Clean-up Recovery Program

Funding is available to help clean up complex flood debris left by the 2025 Mid North Coast floods, with the NSW EPA coordinating the removal of hazardous and large-scale waste from waterways and private rural land.

In March and May 2025, the NSW Mid North Coast experienced severe weather and widespread flooding, resulting in significant amounts of complex flood debris being deposited in waterways and on privately owned rural land. These weather events had a significant impact on the communities in this region.

In response, the Australian and NSW Governments announced a recovery funding package to support the Mid North Coast regions affected by the severe weather experienced in March 2025 (AGRN 1198) and May 2025 (AGRN 1212). See the NSW Reconstruction Authority webpage Natural disaster declarations from financial year 2024–25 for more information.

Funding for this program is provided through the joint Commonwealth–State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA). Under this program, the NSW Environment Protection Authority has been tasked with coordinating the removal of residual, complex, hazardous, and large-scale disaster-generated and disaster-impacted debris. This work will be delivered through 3 projects:

Partnering with ChemClear to safely dispose of agricultural and veterinary chemical containers impacted by severe weather events on the NSW East Coast in May 2025.
