Planning and designing trials in NSW
The Guide to Planning and Designing Trials in NSW is a resource for anyone who wants to carry out a trial in NSW.
The Guide (PDF1.6MB) identifies factors to consider when planning and designing a trial and includes practical tools to use. The Guide has three key sections:
- Section A outlines a standard format for designing a robust trial based on scientific principles. This can apply to a broad range of trial types and is not specific to the NSW environmental regulatory context.
- Section B applies the concepts introduced in Section A to the NSW environmental regulatory context.
- The Appendix includes practical tools to help with planning and designing a trial
The scope of the guide
This resource has been developed to provide guidance to EPA stakeholders.
- The Guide is non-statutory.
- It does not include specific requirements that a person must follow in NSW.
- It does not replace legislative or regulatory instruments, including environment protection licences, planning legislation obligations, or specific EPA requirements.
- Where a trial is being carried out in accordance with a specific mechanism, such as resource recovery orders and exemptions, the requirements of that mechanism apply.
- Following this Guide does not guarantee the EPA will approve a request for a trial.
