Recycling trial expands to combat battery fires
The NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA)’s successful embedded batteries trial is expanding to another 13 locations across the state, allowing more communities to safely dispose of and recycle items with built-in batteries for free.



Georges River Council: E-waste and Extras Community Recycling
Georges River Council introduced recycling for tricky items, including child car seats, expanded polystyrene and hard plastics at their quarterly e-waste events.


North East Waste: Northern Rivers Circular Construction and Demolition Waste
North East Waste explored reuse and recovery interventions to divert construction and demolition waste from landfill in the Northern Rivers region.

The annual Local Government Waste Data Survey collects data from all 128 NSW councils on domestic, public and street waste.
