Radiation user licence fees

A user licence fee can be calculated by using the tables and information below. A user licence fee comprises

  • the appropriate application fee
  • the applicable regulated material group (use Table 3 to assess which regulated material group is applicable to you) and the period of the user licence - one or three years (use Table 1 or 2).

Notes

  1. A simple application/variation is where all the required information is supplied to the EPA and the applicant has met all the relevant criteria for the user licence sought.
  2. Applications sent to the Radiation Advisory Council (RAC) are those which are non-standard (i.e. complex). This is where
    1. no specific qualifications have been identified
    2. the qualification, course or training completed, is not recognised by the EPA as acceptable. Information on qualifications that are acceptable to the EPA can be found on the Radiation user licence - criteria page.
    3. If your qualification is not listed on the EPA website your application will require the additional payment for a Radiation Advisory Council referral. If you have any questions contact the EPA at dgrp.licensing@epa.nsw.gov.au or on (02) 9995 5700 before submitting your application.
  3. Where there are two or more categories of regulated material applied for, the higher of the fees applies.
  4. Please note a credit card payment fee of 0.4 per cent applies.

User licence - new application

Table 1: User licence application fees for new applications

New application and regulated material group category fees combined (see Table 3 below)

Group 1-year user licence 3-year user licence
Group 1 $212 $369
Group 2 $229 $423
Group 3 $282 $580

Non-standard (complex) applications (See Note 2):

When an application is referred to the Radiation Advisory Council an additional fee of $263 applies.

Multiple categories

When a licence requires more than one Group of regulated material to be added to the licence the applicable fee is determined by the fee for the highest Group on the licence.

Example

The application fee for a one year user licence that permits the use of Group 1 and Group 3 regulated material is $282.

Renewal of user licence

Table 2: User licence fees for renewal applications

Regulated material group category: renewal fee (only if there are no changes to the user licence)

Group 1-year user licence 3-year user licence
Group 1 $80 $237
Group 2 $97 $291
Group 3 $150 $448

Example

The renewal fee for a three year user licence that permits the use of Group 1 and Group 2 regulated material is $291.

Variation of user licence

User licence application fees for a variation to user licence

A variation fee of $132 applies when a licence is varied.

Non standard (complex) variations (See Note 2):

When a variation has to be referred to the Radiation Advisory Council for approval an additional fee of $263 applies.
