We completed a 3-year program that mapped koala habitat and occupancy in NSW native forests to inform new identification methods in native forestry areas.

The baseline map of koala occurrence was developed as part of the koala mapping program and shows where koalas are likely to be found across NSW.

Threatened ecological communities (TECs) are rare groups of plants, animals and other organisms interacting in a unique habitat. We completed a 3-year TEC mapping project to improve the recognition, management and regulation of TECs in native forestry areas in NSW.

The Private Native Forestry (PNF) Codes of Practice (the PNF Codes) establish a regulatory framework for the sustainable management of forests, guiding private native forestry operations in NSW.

Old growth forest and rainforest are rare ecosystems and provide important habitat for many threatened species. Logging is not permitted in old growth forest and rainforest on both private and public land in NSW.

We have developed guidelines and videos to provide further information to operators and landholders conducting native forestry operations and to support compliance with the PNF Code of Practice.
