Radiation management licence fees

Applicants can calculate fees by using the tables below. Management licence fees comprise

  • the appropriate application fee (if applicable)
  • the management licence fee, based on the duration of the licence - (one year) to possess, store, sell and give away or (1 or 3 years) to sell only
  • the applicable regulated material fee groups based on the type and purpose of the apparatus, sealed source devices and substances. Use Table 2 to assess which regulated material group(s) is applicable to you and to calculate the appropriate fees (or refer to clause 14 of the Regulation).

Notes

  1. A simple application/variation is where all the required information is supplied to the EPA and the applicant has met all the relevant criteria for the licence sought.
  2. Applications sent to the Radiation Advisory Council (RAC) are usually those which are non-standard (i.e. complex). This is usually where applicants may not have met the necessary requirements. More information on licensing requirements can be found on the Radiation management licence requirements page. If you believe your application may be non-standard, you should contact the EPA at radiation@epa.nsw.gov.au or on (02) 9995 5959 before submitting your application.
  3. Please note a credit card payment fee of 0.4 per cent applies.

$245 Group A $16 per unit
Group B $33 per unit
Group C $65 per unit
Group D $1419 per unit

Non-Standard (complex) application fees - When an application is referred to the Radiation Advisory Council an additional fee of $226 applies (refer to Notes 2)

Example 1:

New licence application fee (simple application)
Management licence application fee $245
Group A (1 unit) $16
Group C (2 units) $130
Total management licence fee $391

Example 2:

New licence application fee (referred to RAC)
Management licence fee $471
Group A (1 unit) $16
Total management licence fee $487

Non-Standard (complex) application fees - When an application is referred to the Radiation Advisory Council an additional fee of $226 applies (refer to Notes 2)

Renewal of a radiation management licence to possess, store, sell and give away (1 year)

Regulated material group category fees (see Table 2 below)
$132 Group 1 year
Group A $16 per unit
Group B $33 per unit
Group C $65 per unit

Variation of licence fee or Variation of licence fee if application has to be referred to the Radiation Advisory Council (RAC)
$113   $339

Non-Standard (complex) application fees - When an application is referred to the Radiation Advisory Council an additional fee of $226 applies (refer to Notes 2)

Fees apply only to additions to the management licence of ionising radiation apparatus, sealed source devices and radioactive substances ('regulated material') or a change to a condition on the licence at the licensee's request.

Other changes are not deemed to be formal variations to the licence and do not attract a fee. Changes must be in writing using the licence variation form but no fee is applicable. Such changes include

  1. address details
  2. contact details
  3. removing regulated material from the licence

Radiation management licence fees to sell only (1 or 3 years)

Table 1D: Management licence to sell only (for companies that sell regulated material only) - new licence application

Management licence application fee (sell only)
1 year 3 years
$298 $669

Renewal radiation management licence to sell only fees (1 or 3 years)

Table 1E: Management licence to sell only (for companies that sell regulated material only) - renewal application

Renewal fee for one 1 year Renewal fee for 3 years
$185 $556

Applications sent to the Radiation Advisory Council (RAC) are where the EPA sends non-standard (complex) applications to the Radiation Advisory Council for its advice which incurs a higher fee. See Note 2 for more details.

Variation to a radiation management licence to sell only fees (1 or 3 years)
