The EPA comissioned Heartward Strategic to conduct social research so that guidance on how to increase safe and lawful behaviour in relation to its disposal could be prepared, and to set a baseline of key measures in relation to asbestos waste.
The research, conducted in June – September 2020, comprised: 12 stakeholder consultation sessions with relevant authorities and industry/professional bodies; 32 research sessions with asbestos waste generators, asbestos removalists and transporters, waste facility staff, local government representatives and private certifiers; and an online survey with a representative sample of 2,702 NSW adult residents.
