Avoid having noisy vehicle exhaust
The EPA maintains a ‘Report noisy vehicles’ service. If someone reports you to the EPA for having a noisy vehicle, you may have to take it to an inspection station to ensure its exhaust noise level, noise control equipment and pollution control equipment comply with legal requirements. In some cases, noisy vehicle owners have to pay a fine or have their vehicle’s registration suspended.

The NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) has issued a $7,500 fine to the former Director for Harwood Slipway Pty Ltd, Giovanni Cervella, following the unlawful transport of approximately 230 tonnes of hazardous waste to a rural property in Ashby, in northern NSW.

$263,000 penalty after hiding 14,000 tonnes of general and asbestos waste
The former owner of Bowral Landfill has been fined $263,000 after the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) discovered incomplete weighbridge information had been provided. At least 14,000 tonnes more general solid and asbestos waste had been deposited at the tip than was documented.
