These items take thousands of years to decompose and in the process, they are causing great harm to our natural environment and wildlife. The NSW Government has banned several problematic and unnecessary single-use plastic items, with further items to be reviewed in the future.

Landfill Emissions Abatement Program
When organics wastes breaks down in a landfill it creates methane. In NSW, methane from landfills makes up around 4% of all emissions. It also makes up 60-80% of local government’s direct and indirect emissions.
