    From the Chair and CEO

Welcome to the summer 2018 edition of the EPA Connect Newsletter. We’re using this bumper, new-look edition to look back on some of the EPA’s initiatives and achievements in environment protection this year. We also take the opportunity to look ahead to the next chapter in our 2017-21 Strategic Plan.

Mark Gifford, Acting Chair and CEO NSW EPA

Mark Gifford, Acting Chair and CEO NSW EPA

The EPA is delivering some of the largest environmental and waste initiatives seen to date in Australia, and it’s important that we keep the NSW public – our customers and all our stakeholders – front and centre, working to ensure our processes and responses are efficient, informative and respectful.

Readers can gain an overall view of EPA’s achievements in the recently published EPA 2017-18 Annual Report.

    Looking ahead

Through the Strategic Plan, the EPA Board and I are working on focusing the organisation’s efforts on the following priorities in 2019:

    • Providing our customers, licensees and the public with a great customer experience and treating customers with respect.
    • Ensuring we are outcomes focused, that our actions and activities are tied to outcomes for the environmental health of NSW.
    • Being more responsive, making sure we respond in a timely and effective way – from responses to major environmental incidents to enquiries from the public.
    • Cultivating an organisational culture that remains adaptive and resilient to change with a focus on people, relationships and effective engagement.

I wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season and we look forward to working with our communities in the year ahead.

Mark Gifford PSM, Acting Chair and CEO, NSW EPA
