EPA tips on environmental safety on show

EPA staff were on hand at the Sydney Home Show earlier this month to share safety tips on managing lead and asbestos during home renovations. Over 900 visitors attended the Home Show stand and 320 lead testing kits were handed out. The EPA also attended Camden Show to field questions from locals and visitors about gas operations at the Rosalind Park gas plant, EPA licensed facilities and other environmental issues in the Macarthur area.

Outreach to Broadmeadow Newcastle residents through doorknock

The EPA and Newcastle business Swanson Industries visited 70 homes in Broadmeadow, Newcastle last month to find out if and how residents were accessing groundwater or borewater.

In one of the largest doorknocks undertaken by the EPA, staff called in to personally remind residents not to access bore water for drinking and cooking in the area, in which groundwater could be affected by per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
