Represent the Namoi community and industry on air quality

The NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) is seeking nominations from community and industry members to join the Namoi Region Air Quality Advisory Committee.

Manager Regional Operations, Lindsay Fulloon, said Committee members play an important role in representing the interests of the Namoi Region communities and industries.

“The Committee’s role is to advise the EPA on issues relating to regional air quality management and the operation of the Namoi Region Air Quality Monitoring Network,” Mr Fulloon said.

“The Network provides near real time and long-term air quality data to assist the NSW Government to plan and respond to regional air quality trends.

“Members will represent their community and industry on air quality matters, so the EPA is seeking applications from people who can demonstrate strong local community links and an understanding of air quality issues.”

The Committee comprises 14 members who represent the community, local government and mining industries to ensure a broad range of views and balanced approach to Network operations and the management of air quality issues.

Nominations are currently being sought to fill the following positions on the Committee:

  • One Chairperson
  • Three representatives (one each) of the community’s environmental interests in the Narrabri, Gunnedah and Liverpool Plains local government areas
  • One representative of the indigenous community in the Narrabri area
  • One representative of the indigenous community in the Boggabri, Gunnedah or Breeza area
  • One representative of the indigenous community in the Quirindi or Werris Creek area
  • Three representatives (one each) of the mining companies in the Namoi region
  • One representative of Namoi region commerce or industries other than mining

Applications should be submitted to the EPA by 5pm on Friday 9 July 2021. Successful applicants will be appointed to the Committee for two years.
