Independent review of historical mercury emissions at Orica site: request for information

Members of the community are invited to provide information on the independent review of historical mercury emissions at the Orica site in Botany.

The review is being coordinated by the EPA. Independent experts will assess any potential off-site mercury impacts from what is now the Orica Botany site.

As a result, the EPA is interested in any information about past industrial practices at, or around, what is now the Orica Botany site. This could include information about historical:

  • waste disposal practices from the site
  • emissions from the site
  • off-site waste disposal practices
  • other relevant issues.

All information provided will be forwarded to the independent reviewer to inform the assessment process.

The EPA or the independent reviewer may wish to contact you for further clarification or follow-up on information you supply.

However, you do not have to provide contact information for your input to be considered as part of the review process. The EPA will consider all the information it receives.

You have the right to access and correct any of your personal information at any time. Submitting your information

Attached is a form (130531oricarev.pdf, 26KB) you can print out and complete. You should return this form to the EPA by 26 July 2013.

Deadline for submissions extended to 16 August 2013.

You can:

  • fax the form to 9995 6900
  • scan and email the form to with ‘Mercury review’ in the subject line
  • post the form to Mercury Review, PO Box 668, Parramatta, NSW 2124.

Please note that the EPA will not respond to individual submissions.
