  • encourage a statistically-based approach to the design of sampling plans for contaminated sites
  • guide on interpreting samples for assessment and validation purposes
  • provide a summary of statistical methods

Guidelines for assessing banana plantation sites (PDF 586KB) advises consultants and site auditors on

  • sampling former banana plantation sites to estimate the extent of contamination posed by primary contaminants including arsenic and organochlorine pesticides
  • demonstrating that the site has been appropriately remediated and is ready for redevelopment
