Return and Earn has turned four years old!

Thanks to the 77% of NSW adults who’ve used Return and Earn we have now saved 595,500 tonnes of waste and redirected it to recycling.

Some other achievements to help celebrate Return and Earn’s fourth birthday include

  • More than 6.5 billion drink containers have been returned for recycling through the return point network since 1 December 2017. Lined up end-to-end, that’s equal to 26 trips around the coast of Australia.
  • NSW recyclers return on average, more than 40 million containers per week.
  • The rolling 12-month redemption rate is 67% – that means 2 out of every 3 containers supplied into NSW are being redeemed through the scheme.
  • More than $28.4 million has been returned to charities and not-for-profits through the scheme via donations and fees from hosting return points.

We looking forward to sharing more successful stories and hearing more from happy returners over the next year!
