Dam safety alert following Victorian earthquake

It’s an opportune time for licensees with dams in NSW to check their dam structures after an earthquake and subsequent tremors in Victoria.

On Wednesday 22 September, an earthquake struck north east of Melbourne. There are reports of the tremors being felt as far north into NSW as Newcastle.

While no significant damage has been reported in NSW, we recommend licensees review the integrity of their dam structures.

Licensees may also have additional related issues, for example warning alarms being triggered by the earthquake, that need to be reset.

By identifying issues early, we will be able to work with you to look at what measures may need to be put in place.
