Over $5 million in grants reduce waste landfill
The NSW EPA Bin Trim Program is the largest business recycling program of its type in Australia. Helping businesses divert waste away from landfill and into recycling, or just producing less waste is the aim of the NSW EPA’s Bin Trim program and 16 councils, industry, consultancies, and not-for-profit organisations have been awarded $5.16 million to make this happen.
The Bin Trim grant program provides funding for organisations to access expert waste assessors who provide advice and support to individual businesses to increase their recycling and reduce their waste to landfill.
Eco Guardians was awarded $379,200 to divert food organics and dry recyclables from landfill by targeting up to 400 businesses, in the Greater Sydney, Central Coast and Hunter region.
Cool Planet Energy Pty Ltd was awarded $398,700 to target industrial, hospitality, and accommodation sectors in regional NSW to divert organics and dry recyclable materials.
The Bin Trim grants have been awarded under the NSW Environment Protection Authority’s Waste Less, Recycle More initiative.
