Amounts: Total of $2.5 million available. The amount available is capped at $75 per tonne (excluding GST) of dry recycling received from households for up to four months, over the period 1 March 2018 to 31 May 2019.

Aims
The Recycling Relief Fund has been established to support NSW local councils in rural and regional NSW. It is part of the $47 million support package announced by the NSW Government in response to China’s National Sword policy. It is a temporary funding program to cover a portion of price rises for up to four months, over the period 1 March 2018 to 31 May 2019 directly associated with household recycling services.
The grant funding objectives are to enable local councils to temporarily off-set some of the extra costs associated with recycling services and support ongoing, uninterrupted delivery of kerbside and drop-off recycling services.
The Fund supports regional waste groups and local councils outside the waste levy paying areas of NSW. This extra support is provided due to the additional costs associated with transport, distances to infrastructure and markets, and the limited service provision options. Regional waste groups and local councils within the waste levy paying areas have access to funding from the Better Waste and Recycling Fund.
The funding has been capped to ensure sufficient funds for all eligible council areas.
