Botany Bay National Park
Watchtower and Cable Station Lawn - Anzac Parade, La Perouse
This was the end-point of an underwater telegraph cable between Australia and New Zealand. Designed by colonial architect James Barnet and built in 1882, the cable station used to be Australia's only link to the outside world. It now houses the Laperouse Museum. Rouse Hill Regional Park

Rouse Hill Regional Park lies adjacent to the Windsor Road at Rouse Hill. In recent years, the park's landscape has been gradually transformed from paddock to parkland, designed around existing features such as Second Ponds Creek, farm dams and remnant woodland. Two pavilion areas are available, each with an iron roof, electric barbecue, fixed bench seating and tables. Both have views across Rouse Hill Regional Park. Fibrosa Pavilion
Rouse Hill Regional Park lies adjacent to the Windsor Road at Rouse Hill. In recent years, the park's landscape has been gradually transformed from paddock to parkland, designed around existing features such as Second Ponds Creek, farm dams and remnant woodland. Two pavilion areas are available, each with an iron roof, electric barbecue, fixed bench seating and tables. Both have views across Rouse Hill Regional Park. In 1789, Lieutenant Ralph Clark, a marine on the First Fleet, tried to cultivate a vegetable garden on this one hectare island. He abandoned the idea when his crops were repeatedly stolen, but the island has been known by his name ever since. Today, the island boasts views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Rodd Island - Iron Cove
This half-hectare island in Iron Cove near Birkenhead Point offers summer houses (dating back to the 1920s) which shelter up to 25 people and contain picnic tables. Shark Island - off Rose Bay
The island received its name because of its shape - not its wildlife! Lying just off Rose Bay, the 1.5-hectare island has spectacular views down the harbour to the Bridge and the Opera House. The gazebo on the island can accommodate up to 30 people. Picnic tables are dotted across the large grassy area that is surrounded by shady trees. Facilities include drinking water and toilets.
