Venue hire - national parks

The national parks and reserves of NSW have many unique and beautiful venues for hire. They range from islands in the middle of Sydney Harbour to old pastoral homesteads.

There are venues around the centre of Sydney, in Sydney Harbour National Park and Botany Bay National Park. Parks on the city's fringe also offer venues - including Cattai and Scheyville National Parks, Western Sydney and Rouse Hill Regional Parks and Bents Basin State Conservation Area. Some parks in regional NSW also have venues for hire. Each offer a range of different settings and experiences.

Botany Bay National Park

Watchtower and Cable Station Lawn - Anzac Parade, La Perouse
This was the end-point of an underwater telegraph cable between Australia and New Zealand. Designed by colonial architect James Barnet and built in 1882, the cable station used to be Australia's only link to the outside world. It now houses the Laperouse Museum. Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park

Beechwood Cottage - Western shore of Pittwater, near West Head - see location map (PDF - 177KB).
Beechwood Cottage was originally built in 1882 when sailors, convicts and even pirates survived in these parts! Today this beautifully restored cottage can be hired out for conferences, functions and other special occasions. See detailed information about Beechwood Cottage

Rouse Hill Regional Park

Crebra Pavilion
Rouse Hill Regional Park lies adjacent to the Windsor Road at Rouse Hill. In recent years, the park's landscape has been gradually transformed from paddock to parkland, designed around existing features such as Second Ponds Creek, farm dams and remnant woodland. Two pavilion areas are available, each with an iron roof, electric barbecue, fixed bench seating and tables. Both have views across Rouse Hill Regional Park. Fibrosa Pavilion
Rouse Hill Regional Park lies adjacent to the Windsor Road at Rouse Hill. In recent years, the park's landscape has been gradually transformed from paddock to parkland, designed around existing features such as Second Ponds Creek, farm dams and remnant woodland. Two pavilion areas are available, each with an iron roof, electric barbecue, fixed bench seating and tables. Both have views across Rouse Hill Regional Park. Clark Island - off Darling Point.
In 1789, Lieutenant Ralph Clark, a marine on the First Fleet, tried to cultivate a vegetable garden on this one hectare island. He abandoned the idea when his crops were repeatedly stolen, but the island has been known by his name ever since. Today, the island boasts views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Laings Point/Green Point Reserve - near Camp Cove Beach.

Marquee, Fort Denison - the marquee is a clear removable structure located on the forecourt of Fort Denison. The forecourt is the main open area on the island. Completed in 1837, featuring warm sandstone finishes, this historic venue is set in Sydney's glittering harbour. Rodd Island - Iron Cove
This half-hectare island in Iron Cove near Birkenhead Point offers summer houses (dating back to the 1920s) which shelter up to 25 people and contain picnic tables. Palm trees dot the flat grassy area near the shore and there's a colonial style hall that was built in 1889. Facilities include drinking water and toilets. See detailed information about Rodd Island

Shark Island - off Rose Bay
The island received its name because of its shape - not its wildlife! Lying just off Rose Bay, the 1.5-hectare island has spectacular views down the harbour to the Bridge and the Opera House. The gazebo on the island can accommodate up to 30 people. Picnic tables are dotted across the large grassy area that is surrounded by shady trees. Facilities include drinking water and toilets. Tea Room, Fort Denison - The Tea Room is an intimate private room located inside the main building on the island.

Willandra National Park

Willandra Cottage - The homestead complex, of which the cottage forms part, is visible on entering the park.
Willandra Station was once famous for its wool, and these days it offers an insight into the pastoral history of the region. The homestead and associated buildings, surrounded by gardens and overlooking peaceful Willandra Creek, have been restored to their former glory and are now available for accommodation and functions. Bare Island - Anzac Parade, La Perouse

Theatrette, Blue Mountains Heritage Centre - Blackheath
The theatrette is within the Blue Mountains Heritage Centre, which also houses a visitor centre, exhibition and shop. It serves primarily as a space for visitor information, but it can be used for meetings/functions and exhibitions. The space is 10 m x 10 m. Hartley Historic Site

Hartley Courthouse - Hartley Historic Site. On the right hand side of the road as you enter the village opposite St. Bernards Catholic Church
