Chemical control orders

Chemical Control Orders (CCOs) are created under Part 9.3 E Division 3 of the POEO Act and are used where controls on chemicals or chemical wastes are required beyond current pollution laws to limit their potential or actual impact on the environment.

There are six CCOs in place in NSW:

The EPA may issue a chemical use notice by notice published in the Gazette, which requires users of a specified chemical to provide information to the EPA about their use of the chemical. See Chemical use notices.
