The EPA's online licence fee calculator is designed to help the holders of NSW environment
protection licences, potential licensees and any other interested people determine the
licence fees payable under the load based licensing (LBL) system.
The calculator will:
Calculate licence administrative fees.
Calculate load-based fees.
Generate fee calculation reports that you can use to complete licence annual
returns.
You can use this calculator to:
- Find out the annual licence fee for current pollutant loads.
- Budget for future licence fees by calculating the fees for future pollutant
loads.
- Compare the changes in the cost of licence fees as pollutant loads are changed.
- See how licence fees can be reduced by reducing the environmental harm of the
pollutants generated or by putting in place pollution reduction measures.
- Complete licence annual return forms more easily.
A single licence fee applies to each licensed premises (even if you undertake more than
one licensed activity on the premises). If you have more than one licence, you need to do
a separate licence fee calculation for each.

Licence fees are determined by following the requirements of the Protection of the
Environment (General) Regulation 1998. The EPA has prepared the online fee calculator
to help users estimate licence fees payable, using the data they supply. Although the EPA
has taken care in preparation of the calculator, it cannot warrant that the calculator
correctly determines fees payable as determined under the Regulation. For this reason,
users must not rely solely on the calculator. They should refer directly to the Regulation
to satisfy themselves as to fees payable.
