The Department of Environment and Climate Change (DECC) was formed in April 2007. The new organisation replaces the former Department of Environment and Conservation NSW and has over 3500 staff in offices across NSW.
DECC brings together a range of conservation and natural resources science and programs, including native vegetation, biodiversity and environmental water recovery, to provide an integrated approach to natural resource management.
